Join Us:  Interventions Practitioners needed

Leeds / Home working

£30,000-36,000 (Pro rata) depending on experience.

Full time and part-time applicants considered.

Safer Lives was established in 2014 by ex-Probation Officers who are specialists in working with clients with harmful sexual behaviours. Our core service is the Safer Lives Programme, implemented and continually developed via the work we do with our clients and associated professionals in the field. Our aims are:

  • To assist our clients to achieve and maintain safe sexual behaviours.

  • To promote positive emotional well-being for our clients and safeguard them from suicide and stigma.

  • To support safety for children, and resilience in family members and family networks.

Due to the success of the Safer Lives Programme and a continued high demand for the service from new clients, an exciting opportunity has opened for an additional practitioner to join the team.

As an Interventions Practitioner, you will be working with clients that are under investigation by the police and have proactively signed up for the Safer Lives Programme. You will get to work with a diverse range of individuals, and quite often their families, undertaking face-to-face meetings at our offices based in Leeds city centre and home working via online video technology.

Our clients come to us at a time of great emotional distress with Safer Lives often being their first and primary source of support. An understanding of suicide reduction measures is therefore desirable although further training will be provided.

The role of Interventions Practitioner would suit someone that has experience working directly with individuals who have offended sexually and is able to do so with compassion and without judgement, upholding the values of Safer Lives.

Whilst experience working for organisations such as the Probation Service and/or a good understanding of the criminal justice system could be beneficial, it’s not a prerequisite and the team are particularly open to applicants experienced in helping people acknowledge and change harmful sexual behaviours as well as those who identify a sexual attraction to children but are committed to not acting on this.

As an Interventions Practitioner you’ll be part of a small and friendly team and get to work closely with some of the UK’s leading individuals in this field. The position comes with an excellent starting salary and additional benefit package, whilst also offering opportunities for progression in this expanding and evolving niche field of work.
