Transitions Programme ages 16-21

Our youth services are headed by our Transitions Programme. This designed for people aged 16-21, but where there is some delay in making adult transitions, the programme may be suitable for people up to 25. To download an information sheet with details of our services and fees, please click here.

Initial Consultation

These confidential one-hour meetings help you come to terms with your situation and to process what might be ahead for you. They give you information about your situation and an informed appraisal of the potential outcomes. For clients aged under 18 we would require a parent or guardian to also attend, and this is encouraged for all clients.

Transitions Programme

This seven session programme includes two sessions where parents are encouraged to attend, and this is required for clients who are under 18. The aims of the programme are to help the young person:

  • Understanding of childhood influences on personal development and your transition to adulthood.

  • Consider the nature of intimate and sexual relationships, including the client's own experience.

  • Discuss anxieties. fears and confidence for the transition to adulthood.

  • Consider the role and influence of internet enabled technology.on the young person's life.

  • Understanding motivations, permissions  and sexual behaviours

  • Understanding the criminal justice system and its implications.

  • Commitment to safe behaviours, relapse prevention and rehabilitation.

Family Support Consultancy

Parents and guardians may want information and advice on how best to support their young person. We offer consultancy meetings which are separate and standalone to sessions of the Transitions Programme that may be attended by a parent. To protect client confidentiality, the parent(s) would normally meet with a staff member who is not working with the young person.
